An Effective Non-Invasive New Form of PRP to Stimulate Hair Follicle Growth and Increase Hair Density
Hair Loss can be very distressing. It can lead to a lack of confidence, social withdraw, anxiety and depression. Hurley Dermatology is pleased to offer our patients PRFM treatment to help decrease hair shedding and increase both the shaft size and amount of hair leading a thicker head of hair and a happier, more confident you!
WHAT IS PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP)?
Platelet-Rich Plasma is a non-invasive procedure that uses the patient's own concentrated blood to promote healing, stimulate hair growth and improve facial appearance. A sample of the patient's blood is first drawn with a tiny needle. It is then spun down in a centrifuge to separate the components and concentrate the platelets into a plasma to be injected back into the patient. The platelets, along with the growth factors they release, encourage hair growth, address concerns of aging by stimulating collagen and elastin production, and rejuvenate skin by improving tone and texture.
What is the SELPHYL® System?
The SEPHYL System, Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM), is the next generation of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). The SEPYHL System converts PRP to PRFM. Unlike traditional PRP, it does so in a closed system so there is no contamination by red or white blood cells that can cause the opposite effect of the desired outcome. PRFP also contains a fibrin matrix system that acts as a platelet plug. The fibrin matrix scaffolding is a biological connector that better concentrates the platelets and growth factors at the desired location and for a longer period than PRP. With traditional PRP, the concentration of platelet growth factors peaks at 1-2 hours after injection. With PRFM, they continue to be released for seven days so significantly higher quantities of growth factors are released overall. This increases vascularization while supporting collagen production. It is completely autologous and, having been used in over 150,000 patients, has extensive safety profile.
After PRP is converted to PRFM by the SEPHYL System, it is in a liquid form. This form is perfect for treating hair loss. The SEPHYL System releases growth factors which stimulate hair follicles and encourages cellular respiration. Improved circulation to the site of injection results in more nutrients and oxygen being delivered to the site. This results in the follicles "waking up" and shifting from the dormant phase to the active phase of growth. Typically, noticeable hair growth is observed within the 3-6 month mark, though it may take 6-12 months for best results. Three initial treatments are recommended 4-8 weeks apart, followed by annual boosters as needed. Adjunctive therapy with Monoxidil or Finasteride, in addition to vitamin supplements, are typically recommended for best results. Developed by a dermatologist, Extresse Gummy Vitamins Supplements are our supplement recommended and available for purchase in our office.
